Another tour of ceremonies in Japan!

Good day everyone!

This is Max again. I haven’t posted for a while so, time to give you all a few updates. Most of the world has stopped completely due to the virus outbreak, so any mass meetings is not an option. However, here with Event21 in Japan, things are moving as usual, though we do feel the consequences of the Olympics getting postponed and a few cancelled events around Japan.

However, this time as a warehouse member, I went with a few other members to deconstruct a stage for a company entrance ceremony in Osaka.

Everything, from supports and red carpet to signposts and even screws was sourced from the warehouse I work at. With all of that said and done though, I noticed a few peculiar elements in, what is supposed to be, a standard company entry ceremony in Japan. I haven’t seen one until a couple of weeks ago, when we had an entry ceremony for our new employees.

But even there, there was that golden folding screen.
According to history, this folding screen in Edo period in Japan was considered an item of wealth and power, and it was being adorned with gold leaf to symbolise exactly that. I’m not entirely sure if their meaning changed significantly over the centuries, but it sure does look cool, doesn’t it?

This and the red carpet combined add to the perceived importance of the ceremony and the attendees significantly. While it does seem like a small detail, it is also very important to anyone involved, as it makes them feel honoured and welcome.

With this, I would like to end this blog post.
Max, signing off.
