We’re still in the middle of summer here in Japan, but it’s never too early to start preparing for your autumn events!
Japan has a strong focus on the seasons, and every season has its own seasonal events. In this post, we will introduce the popular events held in autumn.
1) Halloween
First, we start off with the well-known international event – Halloween.
While Halloween may not be a part of the traditional Japanese culture, it has gained popularity in recent years and has been a hit with the youngsters.
More than the “trick or treating” Halloween trend, the culture of dressing up in costumes is more popular in Japan.
We have lots of Halloween related items available for rent or sale!
We have introduced some unique Halloween items in this blog post.
2) Oktoberfest
Similarly, Oktoberfest is another example of an event that did not originate from Japan yet enjoys a booming popularity.
The Japanese love drinking beer, which explains why Oktoberfest events are so welcomed in Japan.
Oktoberfest events in Japan commonly feature rows and rows of shops, many avid beer lovers, and of course, lots of beer!

3) Tsukimi
Finally, we have come to the introduction of an event that is rooted deeply in the Japanese culture.
Tsukimi, which literally means “moon viewing”, is an event held to honour the autumn moon.
One of the foods associated with Tsukimi is the Tsukimi dango (rice dumpling), which is shown in the photo below.
